A fun ride through the flint hills of Kansas. This route starts in the small town of Eskridge at their city park. From their your quickly make your way onto the back country, gravel roads that the area is famous for. Notably, on the way Northwest up to Alma, the route climbs you up onto Skyline Rd. This particular road runs along the ridge of several hills offering amazing views of the area. I’d love to be up there for sunset some night. It rolls past a radar tower as you get closer to Alma (look for the big Golf Ball). The views are spectacular and it’s a challenging Ride to get up on top of the ridge. There’s also a fun descent into Alma rolling down off the ridge. When you get to Alma, check out El Corral Mexican Restaurant for some very good and reasonably priced Mexican food. Maybe have a margarita or two as well. On our adventure, after eating, we hung out and took a quick nap in the city park. We then took a less hilly route back to Eskridge, that offered tons of scenery, and good shady spots to rest for a spell as it was sunny and hot (it was in the mid 90’s when we road it.)
