A terrific ride for the Fall when the Cider Mill is in full swing doing their fall festival! Pumpkin Patch, Apple Cider, Apple Cider Donuts, live music, and vendors. How can you go wrong? Our group gathered at the Price Chopper in Olathe, which was a fine place to grab last minute snacks and beverages before we took off. There’s plenty of good rolling hills along the route to keep it interesting, despite how straight it is. There’s a small stretch on hwy 69 where you have to ride on the shoulder, but it wasn’t bad. The Donuts at the Cider Mill fall festival are fantastic for recharging carbs and there was tons of activity at the festival. Once we were done at the Cider Mill, we continued to ride south to the Somerset Ridge Winery where they had live music, great outdoor seating, and wine slushies for all! On the way out we also rode past the Somerset Schoolhouse which looked like a fantastic place for whiskey drinkers to stop by. I’ll be hitting there on our next ride through. Make sure your water bottles are full as you depart the winery, because it’s a good stretch back to the start.
